|  On May 31st, 2010, Voluntary doctor team of the Vietnam Red Cross provided medical exam and treatment for free to 98 orphan children and 25 unaccompanied old people who are being taken care in Bo De pagoda, Ha Noi. This was a meaningful humanitarian activity done for children at the disadvantages on the occasion of the International Children Day (June 1st).
The voluntary doctor team of the Vietnam Red Cross consists of many professors of Central Ear-Nose-Throat Hospital, Duc Giang Hospital, Health Center of Long Bien district, Central Eye Hospital. The team, led by Prof, Dr. Ngo Ngoc Lien examined eyes, noses and throats and gave medicines to the children. At the same time, the team also provided general examination to the children to find out serious diseases to have prompt treatment. For the complicated diseases, the doctor team introduced the children to the closest hospitals for treatment.  According to Buddhist Thich Dam Lan, the nun of Bo De pagoda, the Vietnam Red Cross has supported Bo De pagoda in caring for the children at the disadvantages since 1989. Amongst the children living in Bo De pagoda, there are 47 children from a few days old to fewer than 3 years old, and the oldest is 20 years old. Bo De pagoda is always the sweet home for abandoned, homeless and illiterate children and the unaccompanied elderly.
This time, the medical examination and treatment program of the Vietnam Red Cross was donated by BRIDGE HEALTHCARE Company, worth VND10,000,000. Besides, 10 volunteers who are students of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School and Foreign Trade University actively got involved in this activity.
